The Importance of Balance
Ever so often, One’s balance in life is upset. As we lose sight of our goals and get sucked into bad habits and behaviours, even addictions (and I mean negative ones, not jewellery making), life seems to take a turn for the worse. We seem to get more than our fair share of problems and cannot see our way out of uncomfortable situations; solutions just won’t come.
If you think about it, there is a natural balance on this planet, i.e. night & day, hot & cold, black & white – one cannot exist without the other. But when there is too much of one and too little of the other, we are confronted with problems.
Statements like ‘I sleep too little...I eat too much...I work too hard...I can’t say no’ are pointers that the balance in our life is upset. Watch out for these ‘hints’ of imbalance, take action and re-focus, bringing your life back on track. We all know that bad habits are hard to break and we often set ourselves goals and deadlines which are impossible to achieve. Be gentle with yourself: take small steps, nibble away at problems. For instance, if your statement is ‘I eat too much chocolate’, saying ‘from now on – no more chocolate’ will probably not get you very far. However, saying ‘today I will have nuts instead of chocolate’ will give you a fair chance to make that change- and don’t give up if you slip up, just get up and start again.
Being or becoming aware of what is out of balance is a big step in the right direction. Decide what needs adjusting - put in where there is too little and take out where there is too much.
Make an effort to bring some balance into your life and problems and worries will take care of themselves.
