From time to time I lose my direction and stray from the path on which I started out, just to find myself on an ever narrowing desire line, trying to clear away the brambles and undergrowth which are hindering my progress. It happens to all of us now and then.
This is a time to remind yourself of what you set out to do and perhaps to retrace your steps and come back to the original track to carry on with the task we meant to do in the first place.
To be able to do this you need to start out with a clear vision of what you are trying to achieve – a goal, which can be broken down into several smaller steps – milestones along your path to make it less daunting.
Writing down goals and milestaones helps enormously when you find yourself lost in the jungle of mundane tasks, rules and
setbacks. It is a lifeline on which you can pull yourself out of the murky waters of overwhelm and negative emotions, back to the road of your clear vision and focus on your ultimate goal.
Shifting your focus can be done any time in any place, provided you can remember what you set out to do, so having written
down your goal certainly helps.
Once you are back on your path, things will flow again, the going will be much easier and you will be able to enjoy the
beautiful scenery along your way.
Excuse me a moment, I will just go and shift my focus……
